78 Sunburst - bridge pickup string spacing question

Hi everybody,

I'm planning on having a new set of pickups custom wound for me. The 78 Sunburst I have has a wide string spacing. 55mm is what I measured. Is a wider F-Spaced bridge humbucker recommended ? Or will standard spacing do ? The high E-string is kinda off at the moment, but it sounds quite ok to me. Confused.

you can get away with f spaced if that is what you want, make it all line up, pretty, and neat.

But.

standard spacing works just as fine on an ole' burst.

while you're just here ... The guitar has a sheared off strap pin on the front horn. The screw is about 1mm under the finish. Do you think this is repairable and what would you recommend ?

I wouldn't do it myself anyway, I'll hand it to a luthier.
