  1. Well guys, after reading this thread and watching a couple of videos on youtube, I thought what the heck and ordered one of them Wish Klon clones for just under 50.- € incl. shipping from the Wish site. Arrived today after just 10 days. And what can I say? I'm blown away! I haven't had a change to play the real thing, but I had some of the usual suspects at home (J.Rockett Archer, EH Soulfood), and this thing sounds a lot better to my ears than those. Very transperent (what I like in ODs - I'm a TS-hater...). Yeah, can't go wrong for 50.- € or $ or whatever. Give it a shot, really!
  2. Let me chime in to tell you that Ambers are a perfect match for Hamers! I have a set of Spirit of 59 in my Newport (slightly underwound neck pup) and a set of 59 Crosspoints in my Special FM - a match made in heaven!! Viel Spass mit der Sunburst!
  3. Had the book now for a couple of days - can't put it down - don't get any work done - WOW - BIG, HUGE compliments to Steve and Joe - so well done, guys! Besides the glorious pics and wealth of info - it's actually good reading. I had and have to do a lot of reading, so I guess I know what I'm talking about... . Thank you so much for this book - it dethroned The Stratocaster Chronicles in the guitar section of my library - easily...
  4. BOOK just arrived this morning via Amazon - I'm excited....!!!!!
  5. Unbelievable Work !! We all know it - I just have to state it: You're a true artist, Greg. Bravo !!
  6. Well, y'all have a blessed birthday...!!
  7. Have a great and blessed birthday - and a very good and special year of your life!
  8. Avanti looks cool, but I still think Deutsche Autos are the Hamers of automobiles...
  9. Not to bash any US auto brands, but I think Hamer is (was ...) more along the lines of Audi, BMW and the likes....even though those are alive an kickin'.
  10. SN 90793 - got it brand new in late 1979 - unfortunately long gone...
  11. R.I.P Hamer USA - and thank you again for those great instruments!!
  12. I knew there are still true guitar heros out there...!!
  13. I wonder if Hamer/Fender wants to clear the market. I could see the same with my recent purchase (see my post earlier today). This German dealer had some NOS Hamers advertised since about after the time Fender took over for reasonable (at least for European standards) prices. I was lurking but didn't jump on it. Then, a few days ago, they dropped prices by another 500 EUR, making brand new guitars cheaper than used ones on the bay, while you get usually 80s and 90s Hamers there and not the newer stuff. Wonder if the Wilcutt prices will drop, too.
  14. Belly-cuts don't work for everyone...
  15. Check this out ! http://www.homestudioguru.com/92/conan-obr...-with-slash-hd/ Enjoy! Gino
  16. The trem is what I really miss about my 87' PRS Standard (other than that I sold a guitar in 2000 that is now already considered 'vintage' and drawa already big money). It really stayed in tune very well and had a very easy action. I can't really talk about sound here as I didn't like the PRS pups too much and they had a big role in the decision to sell the guitar. But the trem was nice, indeed.
  17. My (long gone ) black and crownded '79 Sunburst (SN: 90793) had speed knobs - and I bought it brand new!
  18. Herzlichen Glückwunsch an Dirk and a happy birthday for Bernard!
