Anybody have any tips on how to keep Gibson-style 'floating' pickguards from working loose and getting wiggly on a guitar? Also, any tips to keep the mounting screw/bolt (for attaching the pickguard to the mounting bracket) from dinging up the finish?
I like the look of the multi-ply LP Custom pickguards on my solid-color (not trans-finished or bursted) LP Studios, but as they're only attached to the guitar by two points, they're not very stable. Plus, almost every LP I've run into that had a pickguard mounted at one time, has a mark or a ding on the front of the body, from the screw/bolt that holds the pickguard to the bracket. Yeah, I know that the easiest (and possibly best) fix is to just remove the pickguard assembly, but sometimes I'd prefer to have it there.
Also, does anybody know how Gibson attaches the pickguard to their '2015' model Les Pauls? Supposedly, they've come up with a quick on/off attachment, and I'm curious to know how that is supposed to work. TIA!
