Thanks for the update. Only one as a reference on the web....and let's say the BIN price is not really the market price.

But apart from the price dimension, I think Guild is the same that Hamer and Market price is not related to the "sound" value and quality of the guitar itself....and I would have loved to hear from people who have had the chance to play one...

...or a X150/X160 maybe for defining the sound, neck feeling, etc....the dynamic of the guitar itself.

Any other experience on Guild from the 80s without FMIC buy back ???

Willie G. Moseley (in the HFC) is a regular writer for Vintage Guitar mag and has also written books and articles about vintage guitars. If he can't answer your questions he may be able to point you to someone who could.

There's also a guy named Greg Gagliano who was a writer for Twentieth Century Guitar magazine for about a dozen years until it folded in 2008. He was fairly easy to contact through the magazine but that option's gone now. But he still has a website including this page of Guild guitars and amps. It includes several of the archtops including the X-150, X-160 Rockabilly, and X-170.

Although the X-161 is pretty rare, eBay has a number of USA-made Guild archtops from the '70s and '80s that are all listed in the $2500 range.

Similar Gibson archtops (e.g., ES-175) of the same age go for $2500-3500, but older ones and fancier ones such as a Johnny Smith are sometimes listed much higher (5 figures).

watch for tiny necks, if you like vintage neck carves or biggish necks at all try before you decide

As always manu thanks for your time. It appears This a simpler version of the mini Manhattan with maple neck.

Anyway a good choice for testing a hollow body with a good réputation. Vive le hfc
