What replacement nut for a 1985 Phantom A5/A7?

Greetings, old friends!

My favorite Hamer - a 1985 Phantom A7 - has been played enough that I'm having trouble keeping it in tune, because I've worn out its THIRD nut :) The first one was on it new, the second one was put on it one day when I happened to be near Alrington Heights, and the third one was ordered from the factory when I was having the guitar refretted (like I said, it has been played a lot!)

So - should I just get a blank graphite nut, or is there something available that will require less shaping?

Thanks!

Greetings, oh Dreamy One!

I should remember, but isn't that one Kahlered?  If so is the string clamp behind the nut still there?  If my memory is, as usual, playing tricks than I'd think that a graphite blank would be your best bet.  If it is Kahlered, I doubt it would make much difference with the clamp right behind the nut.  My one experience with an Unobtanium Space Lube Rock Special nut type thing on my one Kahlered guitar only succeeded in leaving a black hole in my wallet and no discernible change in performance.  In most any event, you're in for some filing and shaping.

Hello, Mr. Terrific!

Yes, it has a factory Kahler and a string clamp behind the nut - I replaced the string clamp, and it still won't stay in tune, so it is time for a new nut.

I put a Graphtech nut and locking tuners on my main Strat, and it stays in tune as well as any Kahler or Floyd guitar I've had.  I'll get a Graphtech blank nut, and sand, file, polish, etc :)
