Questions about the wiring on a Standard

Hello, I have a Korean Standard with a hum issue that appears to have been rewired in the past. A couple of questions. Is the wiring going from the pots to the switch supposed to be shielded? Mine is not and has what appears to be cheap speaker wire for that portion. Second where does the ground wire attach to the bridge or tailpiece for string grounding? TIA

Anything needs to be grounded. For the tail piece, mostly one of the insert has a ground wire soldered to it.

Well I fixed the problem by rewiring the guitar. I ran a shielded 3 conductor cable to the switch, replacing the non shielded wiring, problem solved. As a side note I have to agree that the maple body on these is somewhat of a tone suck. I tried replacing the nut with a brass one but it didn't help, it still sounds the same acoustically. the brass didn't seem to change anything. But with a Dimarzio 151 in the bridge and very early Super Distortion at the neck, it definitely gets with the metal program., so it fills a niche in my stable.

Another side note is after playing it for a few months with the strings wrapped over the top of the stop tailpiece I switched it back to normal on the restring and in my opinion the over the top method produces better tone and sustain, YMMV

Glad you worked out your wire problem. The one place you really don't want a hummer is in your guitar.
