MIDI Foot Controller 101 Question

I recently picked up BIAS FX Desktop and I'm thinking about adding a MIDI foot controller, which would be something entirely new to me.  I don't know how the MIDI foot controller connects to my computer.   I currently use an MBOX audio interface along with my Mac / Garageband.  In a typical configuration, would the MIDI foot controller connect to my Mac through the audio interface?  Or is some other device required to connect the foot controller to the Mac and BIAS/Garageband software?

Sounds likeyou're looking for a USB Midi Foot Controller. There are tons of different models out there.

I don't think the inbox has a midi input. You Need some type of midi input device. You are in Tampa , correct?

Yes, Tampa.

My MBox looks about like this:

You have a MIDI input on your audio interface so you can use that. So when selecting a foot controller, make sure it can send control change commands. If you use a USB controller, in the computer it appears as a midi interface which is no different than plugging something into the mbox midi input.  It too, needs to be able to send control changes.  Good luck!

Thanks for the replies.  I went ahead and ordered the Behringer FCB1010 and expect to run it through the MBox.

 Yeah looks like you're good to go. I had an extra midi input laying around I thought I thought you might want.    There are quite a few options for Midi pedal board. I have an X 15 that works really well.   You may have to assign the pedals to the different modules of your fx.

Thanks for the thought.  HFC rocks.

The BIAS software is fun, but I think the MIDI foot controller will kick up the fun by a notch or two.  Assuming, of course, that I can figure out how to program it.  It's probably idiot proof, but I'm usually the guy they have in mind when they say "then someone invents a bigger idiot."
