Proper way to clean pots, switches?

Many of the pots, switches and jacks on my guitars, basses and amps are either noisy or intermittent. I bought some Caig DeoxIT D5 and DeoxIT Fader F5 and plan to clean up what I can. Are these the right tools for the job? Should I invest in some other cleaner/lubricant instead? I assume the D5 is for switches and jacks and the F5 is for pots. In years past, I used some tuner cleaner I got at Radio Shack but that can is long gone.

Any advice from the experts is appreciated!

I use D5 on pots. On switches, I've cleaned muffed contact points due to light corrosion with a sliver of a fine-grit sandpaper. Typical jacks are cheap and easy enough to just replace, but the sandpaper trick revived a crusty jack on a 335 once. Wrapped the sandpaper around a small dowel and tried that first to avoid the hassle of working in and out of the F-hole. It did the trick, so I quit while I was ahead haha.

Blow off for pots. But just about any spray cleaner type will also just about rid any die electric grease in the pot as well.

Switchcraft switch contact points,

1200 W/D sandpaper. cut to 3/16"~ 1/4"  x 3" strips

open contact points, slide paper between, close contact points, retract paper.

Flip paper, rinse, repeat.

2 draws per contact point is plenty to remove oxi and foreign materials from.
