Hamer Talladega wiring diagram

Question

Hi there,

I picked up a Talladega that had some Fralin p92 pickups in it, they sounded good but I wanted to hear the Double D's and see what I think of them.

I tried wiring them up, but I'm having some phase? (cocked wah) sounds going on.

I've tried it a couple of ways, first I was getting some phase issues on on the combination sounds using both pickups.

I tried flipping the Neck pickup over, don't think that changed anything.

Next I tried flipping the leads on the bridge pickup and now the 2 pickups together sound good and so does the neck but the bridge sounds weird now.

Anyone have a diagram or thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?

If this is true it could be a DD first!

By good, I mean it doesn't sound weird phasy with both pups together.

Before swapping the bridge wires, when using both pups in sounded really out of phase.

I ended up putting the bridge wiring back the way I had it and flipped the neck pickups wires. Seems to be sounding better now.

Google "Telecaster 4 way switch" and you will find a diagram.

This is what it looks like in my Talladega. Hope that helps.

Interesting, I believe that's how I had mine at first.

For whatever reason, flipping the neck pups leads seems to sound better in the 2 pickup positions now. The phasey quality is gone. The second position sounds more tele like now.
