Jimbilly Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 The best color IMO, this is a '97 medium thick neck I think (is that right Peso?), same neck profile as Pesos Black one that iownit now has. All stock (other than new switchcraft output jack), one little 1/4" by 1/4" ding in the face, very little 'itis', a couple of the weird fingerprints you expect on the back. A little bit of corrosion on the tailpiece. Otherwise, very good cond. $1000 + ship.
Jimbilly Posted February 6, 2006 Author Posted February 6, 2006 another pic in different light, since the headstock isn't shown, I should mention that it's a USA.
pesocaster Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Stunning top on this one... and a real nice player.... Although I think you should keep this one too..... Someone will be VERY happy with it...
black magic Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Inlaid MOP logo? Ebony Board? Thanks-Jack.
Jimbilly Posted February 7, 2006 Author Posted February 7, 2006 Regular logo, I always thought it was ebony but now I'm not sure, I believe the fretboard is whatever is standard for a '97 SC. Wasn't ebony stock for those?
Guest Buck Dharma Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Can you tell me how heavy this one is?
Jimbilly Posted February 7, 2006 Author Posted February 7, 2006 I've been intending to get a scale, Peso, I think it was it the same weight as yours? This could be the push I need to go out an buy a scale... Good place to buy a scale?, Target?

Yours is lighter.... mine had the plain "rock maple" top.... and I think mine was around 9 or so pounds...
Brewmaster Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 These are great guitars. Somebody will be real happy.
Jimbilly Posted February 8, 2006 Author Posted February 8, 2006 My brand new Baker digital fish scale shows 8lb 1oz, including strap and dunlop strap locks. that sounds light, does that sound correct? I weighed it twice.
Jimbilly Posted February 8, 2006 Author Posted February 8, 2006 The strap weight 4oz, so if my math is correct, that's 7lb 13oz.
Jimbilly Posted February 8, 2006 Author Posted February 8, 2006 I had a couple PM and email questions, so I'll just try to answer them here:The frets show just a little tiny bit of wear on 2 and 3. The electronics are stock, but I did just a week or two ago install a new 'stereo' switcraft output jack, the original one was kind of loose, and I like the way the stereo jacks hold the cable, it's still wired the same. Hameritis is the common 'finish lifting' around the nut and at the neck joint. I think the nut is too slippery for the clearcoat to stick to and a little air gets under there. The finish also commonly shrinks a bit in the corners by the neck joint. -I just looked at it again, and there's none by the neck joint (I must've been thinking of another guitar!), and just on the sides of the nut, but I got some superglue in there (the common fix). So basically, it's a little bit white on both sides of the nut, but it's very-very minor. The fingerprint thing is some tiny bumps on the paint surface near the control cavity cover, in the pattern of 5 or 6 fingerprings. Some Hamers have them I'm told. Again, quite minor, I'll try to get a photo up today. There is some surface scratching on the back in the buckle rash area, I'll bet it would polish out, -I should do that! The case is the original (I assume, I don't see why it would've been switched) LP type 'violin' case, very good condition.
Jimbilly Posted February 8, 2006 Author Posted February 8, 2006 this shows them pretty well, its the tiny dots below and to the right of the control cavity cover. the sunlight is showing them really well, otherwise they're very hard to see. They seem to be on the surface, as though someone touched that part just before it was dry, they might still buff out.
Jimbilly Posted February 9, 2006 Author Posted February 9, 2006 Awww, it looks like I'll have to keep it ....
pesocaster Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 Good! You should keep it.... that guitar is in primo shape, plays and sounds great and is light as a feather....
Jimbilly Posted February 14, 2006 Author Posted February 14, 2006 I had a request for some more pics, so here they are. I must have too many guitars..., while taking the photos, I noticed that it's a '94!, sheesh, I'm sorry!, I was sure it was a '97, but I was mixed up... this lighting makes it look a bit washed out, some of the other photos show the color better.
