Strap button placement on Standard/explorer

For all of you more experienced in owning this shape guitar where is the best  strap button placement for balancing these while standing?

I’ve got a new kit build I’m gonna be starting and this strangely is the one thing I’m not too positive about not having ever owned a guitar this shape.   The body will be 1.75” thick so hopefully that will help with balance.  
 

I was assuming in the back of the body/neck heel for the upper button and offset from center towards the lower point of the body (away from the jack side) for the other button.

The way Hamer did it was just perfect. Backside at neck heel and a bit off center towards the wing at the rear.

Guitar always balances right.
