sforzando Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 FS/FT: Dead mint 2004 Hamer Newport Korina from the Hamer custom shop with upgrades. Serial #453458. This guitar has: > Korina body with vintage Korina finish > Tortoise Shell Bound Korina top > 22 ¾ neck length and 22 frets > Upgraded Grover Rotamatic locking tuners > Tonespro bridge and tailpiece (not Bigsby Vibrato) > Seymour Duncan Phat Cat pickups > With Hamer TKL fitted case. This instrument is pristine - out of the custom shop in October '04. Less than 10 hours playing time. The Grover locking tuners are an upgrade, as are the matching chrome controls. Please keep in mind that to order this Newport Korina from the custom shop you'll pay a new custom shop price and wait three to six months. Price is $1850 including shipping within the continental USA only. Have my bevy of axes: McNaught SC Koa top, Hamer Artist Korina Custom and Hamer Newport Pro, but... Would consider Newport Korina in trade deal for mint classical instrument: e.g., Byers, Hill (USA), Prisloe, Bogdanovich, Cumpiano, Chapman, Traphagen, Jacobson. If yours is sitting unplayed.... Serious inquiries only. Please email me at: markmyers@snet.net Pictures below.
sirDaniel Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 ALL HamerUSA comes from the custom shop.Besides aftermarket bridge, control knobs, and tuners. Is there any features that make it a "one-off" instrument?
Kurt L Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 22 ¾ neck length Is that a typo, or is the scale length really that short?
sforzando Posted March 29, 2005 Author Posted March 29, 2005 Kurt - Right you are...so sorry for the typo. Length is 24 3/4"Daniel -No. Primary customization is the non-Bigsby bridge on the Korina body, and this comes out of the shop. Only the knobs and tuners were changed out after the buy. I have two Newports - one Korina and one spruce...both Pros with TonesPro bridges. Of course, Hamer speaks the truth...the Korina body is brighter. It's lighter too....but weight isn't a significant factor for either. Thanks, gents, for the corrections and questions.
mrmojorising Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 You can't get a Newport with Phat Cats and no Bigsby unless you special order the guitar from the custom shop. A Newport Korina with Cats and no bigsby is a special order. Not all Hamer USA guitars come out of the custom shop. Only special, one off orders come out of the custom shop.
Guest Mike Lee Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 All USA Hamers come out of the same shop and are made by the same craftsmen regardless of whether they are regular stock items or custom orders. There is no separate custom shop.Trust us on this, many of us have toured the Hamer factory multiple times (4 in my case).
Hunter_Brown Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 Trust us on this, many of us have toured the Hamer factory multiple times (4 in my case). Hence, the current restraining order.
mrmojorising Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 Mike, I've been there three times myself. No doubt the guitars are made by the same folks. But a special order is a special order nonetheless - takes much longer to get and usually costs a boatload more.Special order and custom shop are synonyms to my ears. Custom shop doesnt imply that the guitars are made by different folks....just that its a one off, special order with custom, non-standard features.
