Don't know if this has been brought up before. Basically, talkin' to the woodworkers/luthiers and wood tone afficionados here. Been snoopin' around the web about the Daytona, seems like the weight was all over the place. I know the later model was Alder which maybe was a bit lighter. Some old spec postings said it to be Ash and tone wise had a little bite which leads me to guess (I could be wrong here) that the wood is Northern Ash. Yet I came across an old Hamer Daytona /T-51 ad that claims they have Southern Ash bodies which (I could be wrong again) would explain the lighter weight on some models. Did Hamer at times use both types of Ash which would explain the weight variance or am I totally wrong here?
