Jimbilly Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 cool show, I'm glad I went. Oz was playing a strat through a pair of reissue DRs, he uses a lot of different and unusual effects, some ventured more into sound-effect territory than guitar tones. IMO, he's more on the jazz end of the fusion spectrum, but sprinkled in a lot of variation, some bits of Hendrix, lots of stuff I'm unaware of. Great player, I really appreciated his unique style and arrangements. Jimmy makes a great groove, I got to meet him after. I noticed that he plays his lefty bass strung righty. He said he started playing that way in '61 (at least that what I think he said), that it's a right handed neck on a left handed body. Dennis is worth the price of admission all by himself, so good, the friend I brought along is a drummer, and was beyond impressed. I wondered if Jimmy and Dennis could carry almost anybody and make it sound good.
Jimbilly Posted September 13, 2023 Author Posted September 13, 2023 the pedalboard photo wouldn't fit above
donner Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Oz is one of the most active pedal steppers I ever saw. Great player he is, too.

Yes, my friend and I were able to watch his footwork from our table, I think I saw his right foot on one pedal while his left foot was pushing two other buttons at the same time.
donner Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 That was in May 21., 2015 at Jazz Club of Bayerischer Hof, Munich, Germany. With Dave Weckl/drums and James Genus/bass.
Brooks Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Saw him in NYC around 07 with Will Lee and a drummer. He had 3 giant pedalboards then, that must be his travel rig.
