0 stonge
Follow-up question: where to get a decent zinc tailpiece? 0109 currently has an aluminum tailpiece, but I'd like to try zinc at the next string change. While I'm at it, I might as well install the set of Shlabotniks in the stash pile lol. Edited March 17 by stonge Spellin..
0 Joe K
I bought a ‘70s Gibson NOS zinc tailpiece. Figured early Hamers were using a lot of spare Gibson parts.
0 cynic
Gotoh hardware is hard to beat at twice the price and they make zinc stop bars. Just make sure you get the proper spacing.
0 Ham Rex
On eBay. Kluson Zinc Gold $25.90 https://www.ebay.com/itm/291353911970 Chrome $23.90 https://www.ebay.com/itm/333730195149 And I bought Gotoh Zinc (They were new and fit fine) Chome $27.95 Gold $35.95 https://www.ebay.com/itm/192312074254 Chrome $18+$6 Gold $22.99+$6 https://www.ebay.com/itm/122981623075 I got super lucky and found a 1980's Carvin Gotoh exact manufacturer stamp on bottom for my 1998 Hamer Mahogany. I can't recall what manufacturer I used on my 1995 Rick Nielsen but there was no manufacturer stamp on bottom of either. I feel it was a Kluson. If I sell I'll be transparent and include original parts. I hope this helps. I didn't detune 0166. When I do, I'll post what material and manufacturer if stamped. Schaller makes Stops but they are very expensive. I don't think Hamer used Schaller stops. I suggest you wax the new parts with Renaissance Micro-crystaline wax polish. Like a seal for metal pieces. I'm not a luthier just going by experience I've gathered over 46 years of playing and tinkering on guitars. Here is my latest project. I have to remove solder on pots but look like 1981-1985. Gravelin pickups and a Hamer Branded Schaller 37mm to replace Hamer Neck. Unknown bridge and Jackson 32mm. The springs hit the wood and plate spring for fine tuners shot.
