velorush Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 At my favorite retail establishment, Walter Carter Vintage Guitars, 2003 Monaco Elite gold top with Phat Cats. Beauty! Sounds like a Vintage Carve neck, but the finish notes are confusing: Quote This Hamer Monaco Elite is a great sounding HH guitar with a powerful, growling tone. Its gold top poly factory refinish is rich and vibrant, and its thick neck is reminiscent of early Les Pauls. Cosmetically it has a few dings in the finish and some finish bubbling along the neck joint, but remains structurally sound. Goldtop style. Humbucker tone. Classic. Includes OHSC. (emphasis mine) $1,650.00 with OHSC.
BoogieMKIIA Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 Can’t tell if it has a maple cap by looking at the pics. Could be a Monaco Elite mahogany, which explains the dot inlays. Believe the original pickups were Duncan Custom and Custom Custom. I have not played one to comment on the neck. Should be a great guitar.
velorush Posted February 23, 2024 Author Posted February 23, 2024 Maybe refinished in the latter days of Hamer when they were doing that sort of thing? I recall a few on the board having some remedial work done. This was why I commented on the Vintage Carve (relatively lightweight, too) Brand: Hamer Model: Monaco Elite Finish: Gold SKU: GS7495-A Handedness: Right Made In Year: 2000 Body Material: Mahogany Finish Material: Nitro Neck/Fingerboard: Mahogany Neck with Rosewood Fingerboard Radius: 12" Weight: 8.4 lbs Tuners: Original Scale Length: 24.75" Nut Width: 1.70" Neck Profile: C Neck Thickness: 0.88" - 0.95" Electronics: Original Pickup Impedance: 8.87k bridge. 7.90k neck Contains Brazilian Rosewood (Y/N): N Case: OHSC Modifications/Repairs: Factory Refinished Gold Top
burningyen Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 Looks like a mahogany top to me. Pretty cool, and reasonably priced.
