velorush Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I'm not sure how many of you will be familiar with the Godfather of Go Go, but anyone near the DC area would stand a better chance. Not often one of the [virtual] inventors of an entire genre of music passes, but Chuck Brown is arguably the inventor of Go Go, a DC staple. I wouldn't have known anything about it, but for a close friend who grew up in the DC area. He introduced me to Chuck (and Go Go). Probably his most famous song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MXjuuNr8Uk and my favorite video of him (actually a video short):
tommy p Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Not as relevant here, but Donna Summer passed also. There seems to be a LOT of musicians shuffling off this mortal coil lately.

Turdus Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 20 years ago, I worked with a guy that was somehow affiliated with Chuck Brown and the Go Go scene. If I remember correctly, the guy I knew also worked with the production, or management company, that handled the bands... something like that. I've never heard anybody else mention the name, until today.
