data187 Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 I have a Fender MIJ strat for sale. It is a lake placid blue strat with Fender custom shop pickups ($150s new). It is in 7-8/10 shape, with some paint issues on the back of the guitar. The neck plays great and it sounds great. The only issue is that the original owner put a non professional job routing the body to accept a bridge humbucker. It is not visable(under the pickguard and does not affect the guitar in anyway). Comes with a hardshell case that's in fair condition. I'm selling this guitar for the HFC friendly price of $350 neg. shipped to ConUS, paypal ok. Here are some pix:http://www.rayko.org/4sale/fender.htmlPlease contact me at rayko@dork.com*edited to correct info
hamersandstrats Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Thats a nice guitar. It is not, however, a 60's reissue. Its a regular standard stratocaster. Peter Green has been using one just like it in concert these days. The 60s reissues have a different headstock logo and a different neck. They also say made in japan at the neck heel (or crafted in japan)Which Fender pickups are in there?
data187 Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 thanks for the correct info.i bought this guitar from a local shop used and they misinformed me.i was told they are the fender cs 69' pickupsi pulled the pickguard out and they had fender custom shop stickers on them but doesn't say what model. is there a way to tell?thanks!
Turdus Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 The '69 CS pickups have grey bottom plates, staggered magnets, cloth wiring, and should have the initials "AY", and the date wound written on them, in pen. From what I understand, the same lady who wound them in the 60's still winds them today. Mine do not have the CS sticker, but they are pulled from an actual CS '69 strat, as opposed to being purchased after market.
cmatthes Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 I think "AY" refers to Abagail Ybarra. Not 100% sure, but pretty sure that's her name.
