This party has officially started
hikarateboy replied to BruceM's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
While taking this picture MC said "one well placed grenade" meaning CMatthes would be left holding the bag. HA! Seriously, I'm amazed that when Andrew Large and I started this site 10 years ago that a simple message board would lead us to connecting with some of the greatest people, not to mention players we would ever meet. I'm blessed and honored to find and consider you folks my friends. To have two hfc events on the same day is definately one of the 'things that makes me smile'. If you havent been to one of these events or are thinking of having your own, do what ever you can to make the next one. It will change your life. Bruce McBride and everyone else who have held an event, you are my hero! Jeff R and the rest of the usual suspects, you know who you are, you are awesome! Life is good no matter what the news may tell you. -

The guitar is something Ted dropped off. Let's just say with a white emg hum and single coil, one volume knob, floyd and that color, it was cutom built and had to be shipped to Minnesota but It wasnt built for me, I'm just the guitars second stop in MN. That's all I can say about that, any speculation will will neither be confirmed or denied. What I can say is that Hamer has donated it to the HFC Server Fund. Tentative plans are that it will be given away by raffle at Bruce McBrides Birthday Jam and official HFC open house at the Minneapolis Eagles Club in October. Winner need not be present to win but you might not want to miss this event. Proceeds will benefit the server fund and another charity(s), Details to be determined and will be posted on the board soon. Long story short, This guitar is going to some one here. Maybe you? hopefully we will get some more pictures and reviews after tonights Jam. -
While it is true that any guitar with EMGs will need a stereo jack I doubt very much that a stereo jack came in it stock. My 85 does not so thats what I am going on. Obviously I cant vouch for yours other than to say if it is has the slammer pickups which were a dimarzio for Hamer it probably doesnt. Best of luck with it.

How to donate/support the HFC
hikarateboy replied to BCR Greg's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Happy Birthday to me! Thanks to the people who have sent me emails asking about contributing to the cause. Perfect timing as while doing this year taxes my wife started questioning me about the over 2k I've spend on the server over the last couple years. Since we havent done it in a couple years I guess now is as good a time as any. Here's the details Become a supporting member of the HFC and help defray the costs of having a our own server. (fyi, I do other personal stuff on the server but the HFC is the reason the server exists and it uses the vast majority of band width.) In the past we have used the Happy meal model which is send me whatever you would spend on lunch during a typical day (Please god let them all be NYC Corporate Execs!) In return you get the supporter tag and access to the wonderful world that is the outter circle which is a non hamer related virtual no holds barred cage match where the post run wild across the gamut of subjects. Being that all the participants are active HFCer's its different that other controversial messageboards since its harder to hide behind a screen name. Still that doesnt stop people from mixing it up. It's not just a battle royal as Jokes, Photoshop images, links, etc. also appear en masse. If your interested in contributing to the HFC Server Fund take your pick of the following paypal me at ted_martin@hikarate.com snail mail a check to: hfc server fund c/o hikarate.com p.o. box 19316 Minneapolis MN 55419 Or if you can sling some HTML, PHP or AJAX and have any interest in helping with new features or areas of the Hamer Fan Club ted_martin@hikarate.com I appreciate all the support want to thank all those who have contributed for helping pay for the playground. your friend Ted Martin -
What I learned at 06 NAMM...
hikarateboy replied to SirDouglas's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I was one of these people at NAMM over the last 4 years but I TOTALLY agree with this statement. If I were there for the reason the show exists (buying investigating inventory for my business) I would be completely unplussed about having to fight wiht the 21 year old kid with no monetary reason to be there getting in my way cause all he wanted was a pass to the Dean Markley party where Yngwie would be playing and a bunch of strippers would be working. People who have the means to place an order for thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from a manufacture often have to stand and wait while some 14 year old is working out good charlotte riffs on the latest and greatest thru a korg pandora. That said, There are reasons that regular people SHOULD get in although maybe not in the amounts that currently do. - Regular people post pictures of the new gear on NAMM more quickly and in greater numbers than anyone - Regular people embrace the items that are crazy and might not sell enough to justify a store's order but when ordered by joe dirt directly from the Manufacture it keeps them going another year. - The industry see what attracts regular people better than the store guys who will be happy to tell you what everyone wants but still has 9 out of 10 xyz's in stock because the terms were so good it will be a cake walk to make money with these even though a $129.95 piece of shit is still a piece of shit. - Its the only place to see people play that dont tour. Personally, I doubt I would have ever seen Micheal Schenker in concert because of all of his problems if it werent for NAMM. There are a ton of others too. Whats up with NAMM? sounds like more and more people are down on it. Maybe there should be a manufactures show that is only for non industry or NAMM is limited to NON visitor badges on wed-friday. I realize that many of the artists wear visitor badges but maybe its time for a special vip badge for those guys. What do I know. -
In the interest of board civility

Thanks for the input folks. I am going to start by taking the advice a Musecafe Chris and lock this baby up. I think we have hashed it out. -
In the interest of board civility

Done weeks ago, Jay apparently forgot his password. There was some talk on the museum board that he was suspended but when I checked the list of suspended accts his screen name was no where to be found. I contacted him and told him this was not the case (Jay I think you can verify that) and I reset his passwords for both accounts and told him about it. Forgotten password or never got one for the new board who knows. Re: suspension. I guess we are as democratic as a presidential veto. It's not like al wasn't warned numerous times. All the posts are still searchable on this forum see for yourself. Bury the hatchet? I couldnt agree more but apparently some HFCers that dont post here very often are unable to do this. there in the problem lies. In summary, I say screw it an buy from El Duave. Then there will be balance within the force until some hopped up storm tropper 12 months later decides they paid too much for their custom order or <insert your issue here> and we can all rail on him. <rinse and repeat with dealer du jour> Now where's another pic of that 3 p-90 standard? Lets get back to business -
In the interest of board civility

I like the outer circle as it is. The main reason that the outer circle was started was that Hamer was concerned that when things like this or Boobies showed up on the main board little johnny just visiting with out being anymore than a member would see it and call Kaman saying Lil johnny saw this on the Hamer board. So far it's worked. People argue about everything over there but its done with this crazy element of civility which is the closest thing to a modern day miracle as I have ever witnessed. The outer circle is also a special area for supporters (which keeps lil johnny just a member out) so I would hate to inflict a boring thread like that on the visitors over there. Maybe its time for another forum. One that is similar to flaming piper cub board or whatever that is. People can have access to by request wether they are supporters or not and it would strictly deal in flame wars. Dare we call it "Where's Alpep?" Is this idea supported (sans the name that was a joke)? -
As most of you know the mods (robbie, cmatthes) and I are pretty solid on the fact that we don't like to censor the board. I let the Where's Alpep thread go in hopes that it would run out. I think it did although some didnt or refused realize it. So now I am wondering if its worth it to let these mud fest run in the interest of fairness. People have said its your board do what you want and screw anybody else. The problem here is that I believe its OUR board because the HFC is a community. With out our membership this place would be nothing but some pictures and words. Therefore, <NFL films voice> You make the call </NFL films voice>

now that was funny, even better in action: http://www.prankplace.com/images/cahones/movie2.wmv

Tis true, not only that but Jol has to write the words to accompany the pictures so its not surprising that this is the case especially since his first responsibilty is making great guitars. With more hamers being built than at anytime since they moved to CT its no surprise he's busy. I talked to some people in CT today and Jonathan's summation that "people are reading way, way too much into the decision to cancel the tour this year" was almost an echo or what I heard. If it were even remotely related to anything else at all I would have to be being lied to and I am about as confident as I can be that I am not. The designer series is the focus and Jol's schedule will be posted when the details are finalized. Last I heard the next unveiling was in late October. Obviously shutting down the factory down for a couple days right before a deadline doesnt make sense. Not to mention the fact that that they would need to hide everyone as well as every piece of the next models in line so their dealers can control the publicity surrounding them. Re: the Ovation tour. My understanding is that the tour was booked before and held at the begining of production. All guitars were hidden and to this day I have only heard rumors that people saw something but never heard what they saw. I for one am skeptical but wouldnt be surprised if there a few nosing around where they shouldnt. To me it seems as though its more conspiracy theory and conjecture since thats almost always more fun than the truth. Lets not get hung up on this and move forward. I don't care if someone has been here 7 mins or 7 years, if they are interested in Hamers they are welcome here.

we'll have that info for you hopefully by monday night.

GREAT NEWS!! When Chris and I first started talking about doing this design I wasnt sure how people would go for it but what great response. Chris and I will be going over the final logistics and collecting color info etc. and have the official ordering details up hopefully by monday night.

Black is much more slimming anyway.

Thanks to the lovely and talented Chris Matthes we have a new design and are hoping if there is enough interested to do a minimum run of 72. They will be the same high quality material as the original hfc t-shirt. We wanted to do something easy cool and cheap so the projected price is $13 (shipped). At this price this definately isnt a money making venture rather we just want to sell them for the cost of the Tee plus postage.

What are your favorite plugins?
hikarateboy replied to MrGuitarguy's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I second this one. thats funny! I have the UAD-1 with all the plug-ins except about 2 of the most recent ones and I like it a lot. I have tons diff plugs from Waves etc. so this gonna sound weird. I think people (myself included) use them first instead of fixing things with arrangement or intrumentation changes and its one of the biggest problems in music. We are trying to fix it in the mix more than ever and it doesnt work never will. I havent seen the plugin yet that will turn a bad song in to a good one although I have heard plenty of great sounding shitty songs. HA! And I realize that people might think this topic should move to the outter circle but I think that as long as the topic is musical or hamer can be involved it can stay right here. -
Lesser know band that you love
hikarateboy replied to hikarateboy's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Poe, That is a great example of some stuff I bought because of the last thread! Bought all the Donnie Iris records I could on vinyl for like 10 total and loved almost all of it. What was the Micheal Stanley Band stuff to get? I'm liking my ability to access these other bands mentioned being that came up with the web mean Instant access to see what you think. I love the internet, maybe too much. Speaking of Shoes I cant find anything on them that tells me much and never see a record in the used shops -
A year or two back, maybe 3, DaveL started a thread about bands that you loved that never made it or people just never knew about. Some of the examples were Off Broadway and The Shoes (Hamer content now satisfied so no longer required for replies ) I remember saving the page so I could go back and explore some more of the bands but I lost the page. I'm hoping we can recreate it so I can raid the stash for good new/old stuff to listen to. Any type of music is fair game. This is right down Pam's alley.

A. There is nothing illegal or actionable here. It was a different user id (although similar) and no posts that did anything to represent that he was al pepiak Here's a1peps posts. "You have to work on Saturday? Bummer. " "Damn Greg you going to follow me around all day? " "How does anyone with the 'nads to play a Standard think green is too much? Morning thought of the hour. " There they are see for youself. unless you go for the greg comment and then you are beyond my help or sense of rationality. Re: IPs etc. Let it be known that I will not give out any ip or user information unless forced to do so by court order. I'm sick of being a pawn in the middle of conspiracy theories. If someone is so worried about it take the necessary steps but I feel the same about privacy as I do censorship As for a1pep. I have been speaking with the registrar via email and I expect he will be calling me as I sent him my number. At this point I believe there is far more coincidence here than anything and from the story I was given it more of a case of a person with a similar name signing up for a messageboard. More information as I get it.

first things first. I had to make sure they added up first. I'm looking at be able to importing and adding the previous post counts. Its a pretty manual process since there is not a conversion utility for our old board to this one.

I made a change to the database to try and fix the incrimenting for post counts. Is it working?
