Yep, saw that green one. Familiar w what is on reverb and eBay as of yesterday, but none floatin’ my boat. Here the one i just snagged, with replaced knobs that i assume are closer to original, in a location i dont usually play (ie the living room), but it sounded good and was close to my vino. That E-type is very cool, btw.

more avalons? artisans? savoys?

Just an update, I bought Woodpile’s Robin (thanks WP), and really enjoy the guitar. Been using a MB IIA, straight in. The neck is a comfy medium to medium plus (diff shape but about as full as my Talladega, fwiw), it plays well, and will be played a lot and out without worries. This one is a player, not a museum piece. Now, as I ponder a couple other guitars for sale here that are admittedly spectacular, I remain on the lookout for robins, as well. Yes, I have caught the bug. Because, yeah, I got one and it is that good.

FWIW I am hopefully getting more photos of that area, and the red one looks nice at a much lower price, as does that gold flat top (though I think I'd like the larger neck). Would still love a "family" purchase here, though - Some USA Robin, most interested in Avalon, but could be convinced otherwise.

is this not a little odd -

look at the side of the neck where the body meets it. Some funky finish stuff going there. Might be nothing, but owner did not explain it clearly to me other than it seems some sort of "minor" repair. Id rather have a wrap, anyway, but if you think I am seeing ghosts, lmk. To me it looks like some lacquer is going up on the neck binding in an odd way.

Thanks, Biz Prof. Must be good, none for sale here - in all seriousness, a little funky issue w that Avalon custom on reverb. A couple other avalons are possibilities. But I know there are some cool Robins around here. Perhaps nobody’s sellin’…. But if you are thinking about it, LMK if you are, and what you have. I do love those avalon customs with wrap tails - but am open to something cool. Thanks

Curious if anyone has a nice one for sale or trade? Just started to get an itch And would like to try one…. Avalon custom, artisan custom, something cool. I have seen some great ones posted here over the years - That recent thread and a pretty avalon custom on reverb got the juices flowing.

Yes on all The Who, my all time favorite band, but... On my TT is the Ray Brown Trio, with Gene Harris, "Soular Energy." I really recommend it to all. Good stuff. Grab a single malt and sit back. You can thank me later.
