BruceM Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 I REALLY hate to see this one go, but I've acquired a Newport with Phatcats, and I never really warmed up to the humbuckers in this guitar, so here it goes! This week's offering is a 1999 Newport Pro, serial number: 9500xx. This is one of the early Newports folks, and it plays like a dream. This is a very clean guitar, with very light pick marks on the top, and no noticeable marks on the back. It's got a medium neck profile. The pickup covers are lightly tarnished. There is noticeable Hameritis at the neck joint in the form of discoloration of the finish around the joint. I can try to photograph this if you'd like. Sale price: $1000 plus shipping. I'll offer a $50 discount if I don't have to ship. I'll be at the Muse Cafe in Lansing on Saturday, and can deliver there. And of course I can deliver anywhere near the Twin Cities metro area. Email me at bemcbride4321 at hotmail dot com for more info. Here's a few photos. As always, I've found it difficult to take accurate photos of orange sparkle. Edited to add that this guitar also includes the OHSC in excellent condition.
BruceM Posted April 20, 2006 Author Posted April 20, 2006 Bump...I'm leaving tomorrow for my road trip to Chicago. Anyone want to see this one when I'm there? I'll bring it with me if so...
Nuclear Wessel Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 I'm wanting this one bad, and I'll be seeing you Saturday in Chicago, but my house is full of guitars and I have other financial priorities. I'm missing having a Newport Pro since I sold mine. You're making me seriously think about bringing a Cali Elite to try to sell off at the jam. Hmm.
Moose Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 If anyone out there hasn't tried a Newport, they should get this. If you don't like it, flip it -- but you'll like it.Mine is the most versatile Hamer I own, and one of the best. I swear, it'll do jazz to blues to hard rock. They are amazing guitars. They have a really organic feel and really respond nicely to picking style, but they also hold up well from anything jazz to hard rock and roll.Plus, TOS is a cool finish. The sparkles are very subtle, and impossible to capture on film, but really classy.
BruceM Posted April 20, 2006 Author Posted April 20, 2006 I'll bring the Newport with me, and you can check it out there.
straightblues Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 If I didn't have one comming in tomorrows mail, I would be all over it. They are great guitars and you are offering at a price which I think is toooo low. Somebody is going to get a great deal on a great guitar!!!
