More of a smooth jazz groove thing than fusion, imo. He has also mastered the bass clarinet, I imagine he's competent on other reed instruments. velorush Posted June 13, 2025 Posted June 13, 2025 IIRC, he started on clarinet. Did I imagine that? Fan since the 80's. Saw him in concert in '84 backing Al Jarreau (David Sanborn was the opener). Pretty sure he produced the AJ album he was touring. I'm a fan of his Sunday afternoon program on Real Jazz (XM radio) - usually catch some of it heading to PM services. It's often a teaching program and I find it really interesting. 1 Quote
