Question

Posted

I am looking for an original wiring diagram for the 1979 Sunburst Hamer.   i bought a 1979 Sunburst and while it is playable, the previous owner did some bizarre rewiring and i'd like to bring it back to original state.    I have searched online and can't seem to locate this wiring diagram.   I did pull one down from this site that was called Sunburst Archtop, dated 1991, but given the 12 year difference from the model i have, i wasn't sure it was correct.      2 volume pots, 1 tone, 1 x 3 way switch (mine has some weird aftermarket phase switch or something, which actually sounds ok in use, but  i really want to put it all back to stock configuration.

Any pointers to this particular wiring diagram would be appreciated.

Kind regards.

For a while I was taking pictures of all the control cavities that showed up around here. I just looked and I have 7 pics from 78-79 Sunbursts. 5 of the 7 have been modified with extra switches and various mods.

I guess it was the thing to do in the '80s.

I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but extra switches, active electronics and loads of other mods were a welcome distraction from my terrible guitar playing. Had the time spent ruining guitars been spent in study and practice I'd still suck at guitar these 40+ years later, but perhaps I would be applying somewhat less of a vacuum to the universe.
