Wanted to share our new release with the HFC crew. Any comments are OK with me - good, bad smart assed or none. If you can’t reach YouTube Music, the song is on all streaming platforms as “Who I Am” by Robert Eskridge and going out to small/medium radio (our stuff tracks on New Music Weekly).

The song is all true, written by the band leader. Robert grew up in the Pikeville, KY area. Can trace ancestory back to Devil Anse Hatfield and to the McCoys. He wanted something mean and swampy. I clearly hear Skynyrd influence though we didn’t plan or think of it. Recorded, mixed and mastered at the other guitar player’s home studio in Lexington, KY.

I don’t know much about recording but it’s so interesting how it turns out. There is a brief twin lead part that came from different tracks done at different times that just came together. I’m the lead fills on the left side. Went away from most of my live setup (Tele/Boogie) and used my Les Paul (Gravelin-equipped) -> Black Zen -> Black Tchula -> New Vintage 2xEL84 combo. Don’t recall the mic, preamps and software stuff. Got some “chew” a few places and the feel was part of the inspiration. Did some rhythm using the Tele, both Kevin and I are blended tightly to add girth.

Sorry, I get to it by searching “Who I Am Robert Eskridge”.

I double checked this link, maybe it will work.

This link works and, Holy Cow! I can say that because I believe this is Country music and cows live in the country. Not being a Country music listener, I would normally have not paid attention. But knowing this creation came from a fellow HFCr, I've listened to it a half-dozen times and I'm very impressed!! To me this sounds like it could be a chart buster. Well done sir. It may have inspired me to try my hand at home recording. Well done.

@Saul Goodman thanks. We say we are a country band but play a variety of covers that include rock and, obviously, Southern rock. The originals also cover a range of styles. Exile hails from this area and were hard rock very early on. We used to say if you want to make it in Country music, keep playing rock for 25 years!

@specialk how did you embed the YouTube video? Thanks for that.

Go to the YT video you want.

Under the video are several buttons. Select SHARE.

Copy the web address that pops up.

Paste the addy directly into the dialog box on this site.

It embeds automatically.

Voila, you're done.

i thought that’s what I did, apparently not. I did it from YouTube Music, think it should work the same.  Thanks
