Willie G. Moseley Posted September 19 Posted September 19 This photo surfaced recently when I was cleaning out the attic. It dates from summer 1970 (56 years ago) and was taken at the Airman's Club at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois (about 20 miles from Champaign-Urbana). The John & Rick Duo was a wo-man band a la Lee Michaels, and they went a step further: Note the trombone by the drummer. He occasionally played that instrument and drums at the same time while the keyboard player played organ and trumpet at the same time. So imagine two guys playing the rat-a-tat-tat intro to "Spinning Wheel" by Blood Sweat & Tears. Unreal. I was hopelessly outclassed. Couldn't find any info on the internet about these guys. Dunno if they did the central-south Illinois circuit or what... 4 Quote

velorush Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Don't know about "hopelessly outclassed" - could either of them have played their horns behind their head? I think not! Great picture! 3 Quote
