This is not the crappy later one, it's a real deal. Minor sticker goo shown is gone already, otherwise near mint. $400 shipped Conus.
Jason01 Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 I've been trying to figure this out, why are the newer ones considered crappier than the originals? I know the originals go for quite a bit more money than the new ones and I'm just trying to figure out what the deal is there?
Guest Mike Lee Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Because you can't get new ones anymore! Actually the note tracking on the original is supposed to be better than the later ones. I had a Whammy II and it was fun to play with, especially the detuned setting which was like a chorus that didn't swirl. Just lush harmonizing without any seasickness. I ended up selling it because the novelty wore off.
BCR Greg Posted September 2, 2006 Author Posted September 2, 2006 Only the Whammy1 tracked fast enough. I use mine for Allman Bros, style harmonies, with the the pedal set for a 4th and a 5th, moving it back and forth to compensate for the pitch of the notes. Really cool piece.

Guest Mike Lee Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 True too. The casing of the Whammy II was a curved piece of metal with plastic end caps that were hot glued in place. Not very durable. The new Whammy reissue is more like the original, but I've heard the tracking still isn't as good.
