Lockbody Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 I just recently bought this and really like it, but I just pulled the trigger on that pointy-headstock Vector on eBay so I need to let it go. It's an '81 Special so that means it's got the narrow neck. If you have small hands, or have thin fingers like I do, you will love this guitar. Depth, however, is a solid medium. It does have several dinks, oops, small chips and a few touched up spots where it looks like a previous owner tried to touch it up (Most noticable, two hanger marks up on the headstock and the strap pin on the upper horn). Pretty minor stuff on a twenty-five year old guitar. The only real out of the ordinary thing on this guitar is where some previous owner machined two small, allen head screws into the sustainblock to force the saddles together to make the whole assembly more "monolithic" I guess. Other than that, the sustainblock itself is in excellent condition and they did do a good job on the machining. But, with them in, or without them, this guitar rings like a bell unplugged. This was my first sustainblock guitar, and I bought it to see if all the hype was true, and it most assuredly is. This is easily the loudest electric guitar, acoustically, I've ever owned. Alive, raw, bright, and clear, are adjectives that come to mind in trying to descibe the sound. I like my bridge pickups a little hotter, so I added a Dimarzio Air Zone, which is pretty darn close, tonally, to the stock Dimarzio PAF, just with more "oomph". Both are included. OHSC in "OK" condition.

Guest pirateflynn Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Man, it has a NICE fingerboard, too!
Lockbody Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 Any offers or trades on this one? I never play it since getting my Vector and would love to have something with some different "flavor". I'm not limited to Hamers, or guitars for that matter.I have taken out the Air Zone since the original post and gone back to the Dimarzio PAF. More pictures upon request.Thanks.
