Sitamoia50 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I'm in a severe early Pretenders/James Honeyman-Scott phase. I'm lookin' for an 80's Sunburst, obviously like the one Honeyman-Scott used. Condition is not important. I have about $750-800 to spend. Anyone out there have one they wouldnt mind parting with?
serial Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 JH-C had a cherry trans 80 or 81 I believe. VERY cool-I've pretty much always been in a JH-C mode. While I don't have a Sunburst like his (not for lack of trying), I DO have an '82 Proto just like his opaque red one from the SNL performance, music videos, etc. That's not going anywhere anytime soon though!

peedenmark7 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 steve, when that opaque red proto-1 goes.....please send it my way ! BTW, thanks for those tuners !!!
serial Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I love that Proto. You're welcome on the tuners-glad they worked out! You WILL have to post photos of whatever you've got in store for them though!
peedenmark7 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I know you love that proto !..... I know I'd love that proto.... you know that I know that you know that I would love that proto I shouldve kept the red opaque I bought new in '83. I dont recall what I didnt like about it... I rememebr it having a real chubby neck compared to my white '82... but nothing else sticks as to why I wouldve traded it back in...I think I paid $525 for it...I'd have to dig through old receipts. who knows could be the same one ,for as few red opaques as they made ! will definately post pics of what the white tuners are used on ,he he he!

Actually, I hear ya on the Pretenders/Honeyman-Scott. Ive always been in that mode myself (one of my all-time faves)but lately its been all ive been listenin' to 24-7, like obsessive like!...I picked up a phenomenal bootleg of them from Santa Monica and Honeyman-Scott's playin is just.....Well F'N inspiring. Anyways speaking of his cherry trans Sunburst. I was perusing Chris' guitars site and I came across a cherry trans Sunburst '82 just like Honeyman's so I proceeded to sell off a few of my guitars to buy it. Well to cut to the chase, when I had the money together to purchase it (he wanted $750 for it) I called him and told him i would send him the money and he said cool............I get a phone call 20 minutes later and he apologized up & down. Apparantly the guitar was sold and he didnt take it off his site which he usually does. Wonder if someone from here bought it. I was pretty bummed to say the least and that is why I am now on the hunt for a Sunburst which I think Ive found........thanks everyone for the replies.

Anybody have a picture of that guitar ? cmatthes avatar with the pic of James Honeyman-Scott has the trans red Sunburst only you cant see it really at that angle. I just got the Pretenders Box set "pirate radio" and unfortunately most of the pics in the book that comes with it have him using his Zemaitis or his Les Paul Standard. On the DVD there is a very rare concert video where they do Tattooed Love Boys/ Up the Neck from London where he's using the Hamer trans-red. That footage alone is worth the price of the Box Set as there is so little of Honeyman Scott live. Actually I'm pretty disappointed with the box set I was hoping for a lot more of the original lineup. There's 4 CD's and the 1st CD is the only one with the original line-up. The DVD w/rare Honeyman Scott footage is alone worth the price of the box set. Actually, while we're on the subject. Does anyone have any bootleg or rare early Pretenders/Honeyman-Scott stuff? I have a few Live Bootleg Cd's. I would pay an exorbitant amount for some live DVD footage. Like those 2 live concert footage songs on the DVD. I would Kill to get the whole show that those 2 songs came from. Somebody must have it somewhere. I'm sure they didnt just stop shooting after those 2 songs. Damn!
