petemfa51 Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Looking for an original Hamer DiMarzio neck pickup, must be early Hamer. Also any original pots.
Guest pirateflynn Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 That's a tough order. Most people hang on to the neck PUs. Good luck with it.
kurtsstuff Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 I'm sure I have a few in my pickup box...$350.00 shipped and there yours!!
petemfa51 Posted June 4, 2007 Author Posted June 4, 2007 Might have found one. Ebay # 230136777489??? Looks right.
Guest pirateflynn Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Not a good picture but it looks like the real deal.
serial Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Agreed that the pic isn't great-looks to be a '79-'82 though. Unfortunately, it also looks like a bridge pickup from the leads. The finish should also be matte, despite what the ad says. Possible that this one has been painted? I've had one of those. I'd have to see the slugs up close as well as the backplate to be sure. I have OLD Dimarzios in original Hamers that are matte-none with gloss finished bobbins.
petemfa51 Posted June 5, 2007 Author Posted June 5, 2007 Serial,Your 79 Sunburst has really messed me up man. It sounds so good I'm trying to find an old Dimarzio to put in a Les Paul to get it CLOSE to the Hamer. I took the '79 to a local music store that always has a nice selection of choice stuff, NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING even came close to that Sunburst. Even the guy's in the store could hear the difference. I don't know man, I could be ruined for life because of that guitar. Haven't bought a new guitar since I got it.
Guest pirateflynn Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I couldn't agree with you more about the early Sunbursts.
serial Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Rub it in!!! That was one of the best sounding guitars I've ever had, I was just afraid of messing it up! Glad you're digging that one!
petemfa51 Posted June 6, 2007 Author Posted June 6, 2007 Hey, I got that Dimarzio that was on ebay for $35. It is definitly NOT painted (black all the way through) and it IS matte finished. Measured it and it reads exactly 8.0 which incidently is the same as my Sunburst neck pickup reads, bridge on that guitar reads 8.9. Looks like I might have found the illustrious Hamer Neck Dimarzio pickup for $35. I'm sending Serial some better picks and see what he thinks.
mkadowaki Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Are these always "reverse" zebras with the slotted screws in the white bobbins?
kizanski Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Are these always "reverse" zebras with the slotted screws in the white bobbins?99% of the time, yes.
Guest pirateflynn Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Yes. The neck pickup is reverse zebra with the screws in the white bobbin.
