1966 Fender Jaguar FS

Get into a vintage Fender while you still can!!!

Since my other '66 Jag is back from getting new paint, I don't need two of these around. This one's a February '66 Jaguar (dots and binding-only done for a few months). Body has been refinished (obviously) in bright yellow and there are a few non-original parts. When I got it, it had 60s Mustang tuners, so I found a set of correct '60s F-tuners and put them on (same holes as before). Neck plate was changed before I got it as were the strap buttons, both easily sourced. Bridge pickup is I believe a USA Reissue pickup, but it sounds pretty good-these guitars are great rhythm instruments and do defined chords extremely well. I added the roller bar on the bridge (no extra holes or mods needed on these) to use a lighter guage string. These are pretty much essential on Jags and JMs unless you're using .12s. Neck is heavily "reliced", but feels great and plays nicely. Nut has been changed out from original and there's no Mute assembly on this, but everyone removed those anyway-they sucked! The pickguard is an aftermarket mint guard, but I have the original tort guard that came with it-just didn't like it on the yellow. Comes with original case, but the pocket has been removed. Cases alone for these are selling for $200 and up.

Don't really want to part this one out because it's a cool guitar that you don't see much of and it's a fun one to play. Will sell to an HFCer for $1400 + shipping in the Lower 48 or will entertain offers/trades. Got GAS (what else is new?)-you know how that is, right? These guitars have been taking off like crazy in the past six months after Jazzmasters went through the roof. Don't feel like the hassle of fleabay, so I'm offering it here first.

Wait, so what is actually original on the guitar? And why bright yellow? ;-)

Neck, bridge, tailpiece, neck pickup, the myriad of plates, knobs, switches, wiring, pots, other electronics, case, etc. Why NOT bright yellow?! I got it because I liked the color, but we all know that SFG wins Steve's heart over every time. Tuners were expensive mid-60s originals (from a '66 Jaguar). And the original guard goes with the guitar-it's just not on there now. Get a real '66 for the price of a new reissue as a result.

Final bump here for a cool git. Just posted it on another forum and it's already gotten a half dozen responses! Jags really aren't the typical Hamer-fan fare, I know!

If I had the extra cash I'd grab this in a heartbeat

It is a cool-assed git indeed, but I don't need two.

Price drop to $1300 to get it outta here.
