Buzzy Fretts Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Well I've decided that the longer scale OM is really my bag and so I'm selling this beauty to make room in the studio. You can find the write-up of the limited edition Martin 000-echf here. The shorthand: this is essentially an Eric Clapton 000, with upgraded wood, high gloss black laquer finish, beautiful inlaid torch headstock, and sundry appointments. The cap is Italian Alpine spruce, which to my ears is the most musical top out there. Each note sings with bell like clarity. The K&K dual system is the most natural acoustic pickup system I have heard in any guitar. It is number 289 out of a run that was shy of 500. The guitar really plays like a dream. When I perform with this guitar I always get comments about how beautiful it sounds live. Because I bought this guitar to be played and not to live under glass, the finish and pickguard show signs of being strummed - scuffs that show clearly on the black gloss under some light; in other light they all but disappear. Most of these are around the soundhole. One moves across the lower bout. None break the finish. I've chosen the most unforgiving light to photograph these areas so there are no surprises. I am asking $3650 plus shipping and will only send via overnight or two-day, to minimize the time spent in transit. -frank
cmatthes Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 That is an amazing guitar - sounds amazing and the workmanship (at least on the one I've played) is flawless. They are asking $5,200 for the one in my local GC and it's in waaaay worse shape!

GC is probably shooting too high. but I've seen these creep up since they were released in 04. if I flip it onto e-bay I'll probably shoot for low 4k's.
Teh Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 You may want to post it over on the Martin Forum (UMGF)...http://p082.ezboard.com/btheunofficialmartinguitarforumI'm sure you'll get a bite over there...

I'm already there. people there do know the mojo on this one. but they also tend to lean towards more traditional gear, vintage finishes etc. a mint one might get picked up for collectability. but as a player's axe, I think the BN attracts more of an electric crowd. I have a little time -am asking a reasonable price - so I'm sure it will work out.

The darkest finish they want is a Sunburst on a D28 Marquis...Your BN is beautiful. I had a 000-28EC a couple years ago, but the short scale and V-neck drove my left hand and wrist crazy after about 10 minutes of play. It's a shame, because those guitars have absolutely killer tone...Good luck with the sale -- I'm sure she'll move quickly...
