Old Dimarzio Dual Slug Pickup

Not to hijack, but there is a wierd used pickup at a local Mom and Pop guitar shop that has 2 rows of polepieces that are smaller than usual in diameter and very slightly domed rather than ground flat, and the brass baseplate just says "DiMarzio" with no model #. I have looked at it a few times but have no idea what it is. Is this what the OEM Hamer units looked like by chance? What do they sound like (the Hamer ones that is)? Thanks. Z
