Jimbilly Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 From 1972, solid state with a single 15 (eminence, w/ alnico mag), guitar and bass inputs. It actually sounds kind of good! Anybody remember these?
alpep Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 yupthe bigger cabs all had horns before acoustic made that look popular. I went to college with a kid that had one and tried to sell it to me. I bet he still has it. If I remember they were rather shrill. guess so with a horn I always liked the look
Jimbilly Posted November 16, 2007 Author Posted November 16, 2007 I knew you'd remember those! The knobs are very 'Kustom'.

Gino Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I'd like to have one of these: How about this one ? http://www.wutzdog-guitars.de/amps.html (Scroll down the page!) I sold a ton of these in the eighties. They have a switch on the back of the chassis that you can set back to 110 V and you just need to put a US power plug to the power cord and you're good!
alpep Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I'd like to have one of these: sold mine a couple of years back. acoustic's try at a boogies clone. they came stock with evm 12 OEM speakers most are gone out of the amps now. I had the opportunity to buy the head version of that a couple of months ago but the guy wanted too much. overall they are nice amps just too many knobs for me. goos sound nice cabinet LOUD LOUD LOUD
Gino Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I always thought that the overdriven sound was a bit on the 'too warm / mushy' side of things - too much of that Carlos type sound for me, just not enough grit. The clean sound was where these amps really shine - very fendery! They started out as Models 165 (hardwood) and 164 (vinyl). They later added a 60-Watt vinyl version called 163, which actually to me sounded better overdriven than it's 100 Watt brethren. In the 80's, we got those direct from Acoustic and sold them by the truckloads as real Boogies were still rare and very expensive (the dollar was worth about 1,50 EUR in those days!).I never really figured out what happened to the Acoustic Control Corp.
