geoff_hartwell Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Just got a dbx DriveRack PA unit as part of a gear deal. The guy said he did some designing for dbx and got this as a prototype.I don't really have any use for it- Most venues have a full PA,and when I bring one for smaller gigs I use a small mixer and powered speakers, so this wouldn't be necessary.Anybody have any experience with these, or perhaps words of wisdom?
Thundernotes Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 All I know is we have one and it made a world of difference in the "cohesiveness" of our sound. Cleaned everything up. It works as phase correction, compression/limiting, a graphic equalizer, and helps you load the van at the end of the night. I can't say enough good about them.Their best function is the matching of your power amps and speakers to correct any common phase misalignment. Good stuffIt doesn't sound like you have much of a use for it, but they go for about $500 new, so flip it and get something useful for yourself.
geoff_hartwell Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 Thanks, Thundernotes.Now entertaining offers!
Kramer_nut Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I've got one and once I got over the learning curve of how to set it I love it! Definately get the reference mic to auto eq the room. Most clubs don't like you running 5 minutes of white noise though.Todd
