straightblues Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Here is my broadcaster build with a twist. It has a red maple top on it. It is a Warmoth body and fat v neck. It has a Glendale Blackguard cold rolled steel bridge with an Aluminium E/A and steel saddles for the other strings. Don Mare broadcaster bridge and S.Tele neck pickups. CTS pots and an old RMC cap. It looks a little funny but it sure sounds like an old broadcaster
Brooks Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 i thought the idea of the broadcaster vs a telewas the absence of a neck pup, thus less magnetic drag on the strings?
kizanski Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 That looks awesome. You're rivaling the parts-o-caster prowess of Badger Dave - particularly in the ugly knobs department (and that's a compliment too, by the way).
straightblues Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 I took a few pictures in the morning sun. These ones really show the color better. I used dye on the top. First dark brown, then bright yellow and finally red. You can see the colors in person and they are picked up in these new pictures. Yeah, it has broadcaster pickups and saddles and so forth. I has the tone of a Broadcaster but not the look. The Esquire is one pickup. The Broadcaster is one of the early guitars before the name switched to Telecaster. They are known for hotter pickups and steel bridge and saddles. As for the knobs, they are 50's Harmony knobs. I didn't have any tele knobs at the time.
