Pieman Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I am going to attend Dr Z's Z-Fest in June and I think I will be jonesing for one of his amps after that. I would have to thin the herd to afford one. What do you think is FMV for these?1. Ampeg Gemini II w/tremelo. Late-60s. Grill cloth and tolex are not bad. This winter Weber re-coned the speaker. An Ampeg restorer in Buffalo replaced the filter caps, installed a three prong, retubed it and replaced the footswitch. New handle too. I probably have $450 in this. I did not tell the repairman that Channel One was not working. That needs to be addressed. I have the replaced tubes and misc other stuff.2. Sano HiFi with 15" speaker. Stereo model with tremelo. Big gold-painted speaker. I have not plugged it in. I was told it didn't work by the piano player who had used it. I do not want to fire it up and I am not a technician. I couldn't pass it up. Has this space-age looking gril cloth in nice shape. Missing about a 5"x8" piece of covering on one rear lower corner, otherwise just old and dusty. 3. 1970's Vibro Champ. Cosmetically I'd say okay, not bad, not ecchh. Allen Amplificatin went over this about five years ago when he was still doing repairs. Installed a bigger OT and he went over the innards, replaced the can cap and whatever. New tubes back then. I have played this maybe 40 hours in five years. I think the prong end of the cord is wiggly but it is okay. I also put in a Weber 10" and cut myself a plywood baffle. I had to press in one of the hot-dog surrounds so it would not touch the now taller transformer. Sounds stronger than a VC, maybe more like a Princeton. A good little practice amp.If anybody can ballpark the asking price, I would greatly appreciate it. It would help me figure out what I can spend on a Z. Thank you very much.If you are interested I could take photos and email them.

I had an opportunity to snag a super clean one with all of the paperwork for $350 (a '78). BCRGreg sold a minty-fresh one last week that was really boss in that range. Those were both all original and nice though. On Fleabay, I've seen blackface ones go for between $50-100 more than the SF stuff. I'd need to see yours, but with the mods and condition as described, I'd be thinking more in the $200-275 range?
GusS Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 top end for an all original gemini in mint shape is about $650. id say your gemini is worth about $300-350. i'd buy your sano if you are selling it
