New Ebay Feedback Rules

Good God Man. Stop and think for a second.

I've been doing ebay since 2000, have over 1k transactions, a 100% 400 rating (only since most people dont even bother to leave feedback) and I'm a very honest seller.

I'm boycotting that POS site since they did this.

Why? Because there are a LOT of scammer buyers out there. I've dealt with a few. Used to be you could at least warn people about these Pieces of monkey crap via the feedback system, but now, Ebay has declared open season on sellers and encouraged frauds and rip-offs.

Examples (all actual, things I personally have experienced or things people I know personally that sell a lot have seen)

1) Scammer buyer gets hold of someone else's paypal acct and wants to use "my room mates/friends/etc" account to pay but wants a different shipping address. If you send the goods, you'll get a chargeback on the credit card and be SOL on any type of recovery.

2) Grief users go around hitting Buy it Now then never pay, just to be annoying.

3) Unethical buyers hit BIN or win an auction then want to negotiate for a lower price after the fact. Now they can hold your feedback hostage and you have NO recourse.

4) Unethical people that win an item, receive it, then claim it was damaged when it wasn't and want a full/partial refund (really a way of trying to negotiate after the fact, only worse), or claim they never got it. You can somewhat avoid the latter by having a SIGNATURE delivery confirmation, but it will take you time, your Paypal account will be frozen in the mean time, and you'll get negative feedback from the A hole anyway and you cant do anything about it. For the former, you are now proper F'd because they don't have to prove a GD thing, only make the claim, and Paypal will F you and your feedback will be held hostage if you dont play ball.

The end result of this retarded new policy is that a lot of sellers refuse to use ebay anymore, and Ebay has put up a big "screw our sellers, PLEASE!" sign for every two bit scammer in the world to see. If I were such a scammer, I'd be all over Ebay right now like stink on crap pulling every buyer scam I could think of. As an honest seller and buyer, I'm boycotting that idiot corporation, as many others are, til they figure it out. The recent stream of emails I've got from them offering all kinds of incentives and begging me to use Ebay shows that they are feeling the hit.

I personally think the new rule is BS because as a seller I've always left feedback as soon as the buyer paid (as you should)

Hmm, as a seller, I never leave feedback until I know the buyer has the item in question and everything's fine, because IMO, until then, the deal isn't complete. Never thought of it as holding the buyer hostage or anything, just thought of it as good customer service?

I like using e-bay to buy stuff but my experience with selling has been less than positive. Both times that I sold something (a guitar and a radio amplifier), both winners did not pay nor would they reply to my e-mails. At least before you were able to leave negative feedback.
