ArnieZ Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I have 2 Valvo ef86's for sale. Tubes are ANOS and test like new on a Funke tube tester where 3mA is "good" these measure 6.4 each. I have tested them in my Z28 and they work fine, sound great. Asking for $45 for both shipped or $25 each. Codes are 8YD indicating manufacture in Hamburg in the 60's. They look exactly like this however pic is not the tube for sale! ArnieZ

ArnieZ Posted December 7, 2008 Author Posted December 7, 2008 sirDaniel,I'm not sure anything beats them out. I have 2 amps that use an ef86 and have been on the lookout for these tubes for years. One day when looking thru the stash I realized that I had not changed the ef86 in my Z since I pulled the Russian tube several years ago. I figured I could let some go! I have Telefunken's, Mullards,Amperex, Valvos etc. A lot of the Phiillip's tubes are rebranded. Some of my Amperex are actually Mullards, some are Valvo and vice versa. They all sound great in the 28. The Mullards with the long mesh and square getter are a little thicker in the mids the Valvos have a touch more zing on top. Playing clean the Valvo has a little more sparkle and chime the Mullard a little thicker sounding when driven. But that's really splitting hairs they all really do sound great. The Telefunkens sound closer to the Valvo's than the Mullards. I have had no problems with microphonics with any of them, including the Russian tube that came in the amp. Both of my amps Z28 and 65 London are heads though.ArnieZ

ArnieZ That's what the Airbrake is for.. I just read on the Z site that he is coming out with an AirLight which is a smaller Attenuator.
