bach Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Oooh I have an iPod gripe...I bought the 60 GB iPod recently. Ya know...The one that stores photos. Yea the most expensive one. It claims:Connect and ShareUse the optional iPod A/V Cable to connect your iPod to a supported projector or TV, then mesmerize friends and family with a breathtaking slideshow accompanied by your own music.Cool, right? My Mrs. is really into creating photo presentations of the kids, so this is perfect? Well I'm not griping that it doesn't work, but...I figured out that I have to purchase the following in order to play slideshows:Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 for Windows - $90 - Not included.Apple iPod with color display Dock - $39 - Not included.Apple iPod AV Cable - $19 - Not included. So I have to spend 40% more to be able to utilize the advertised slideshow capabilities??? When I bought a DVD Burner, it came with the necessary cables and software. Digital camera? Yep, software included. I know, I know...I should have read the fine print. But who would have thought? Of course I could scrap my PC and buy a Mac which comes with the proper software. Yea. That'll fix it.

I think there is an option to transfer full resolution photos. I haven't tried it tho.

DavidE Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 Sorry,Still the best portable music solution. Mac custy support is really good.Z Have you actually tried the others?I ripped a bunch of CDs and burned them onto two Rios (a Nitrus and a Carbon) tonight with absolutely no problems. While the customer service may be great, it's needed due to issues with hardware and software that I don't have with the Rios (and I've had one of them for 2 years or so).

But how do the Rios compare to the WCRs or the Fralins?
Jeff R Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 I'm having great success with my cassettes and ADATs.Those iPod things don't work too well. Go rent "The Fly" with Jeffrey Goldbloom. One of those things fucked him up bad in the end.
Ryan07 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 I've owned an ipod, a creative zen xtra, a rio karma, and a sony net-md player. None of which can touch my newest player, the IRiver H320. Plays multiple formats, mp3, ogg, etc... With a firmware upgrade it plays videos You can view pictures and read text documents It has an FM radio You can store files You can record with either the internal mic, the included external mic, from the line-in or directly from the FM radio. It's driverless and is seen as a mass storage device when plugged into any computer. Drag and Drop... the main reason I bought it. LCD remote USB host cable allows you to directly transfer to and from another usb device. This feature is extremely handy if you have a digital camera. With 3rd party software you can create your own firmware skins This list goes on and on... And it's cheap I bought my 20GB H320 for $225 new. I got the lite version which dosen't come with the USB host cable or the LCD remote. I bought the cable separately for $2.00 and the remote for $10. There is also an H340 that's 40GB. This is hands down the best player out there. I think iriver just discontinued the H3** series, but you can still find them at major stores. Highly recommended
