Guest pirateflynn Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Are those really 10" Blues? What came in those amps?
backinit Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 I beleive so. It's a pretty sterile amp stock, but supposedly there are some cheap mods to get it breathing some fire.
JES1680 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 For $75.00 I'd give it a try. Those appear to be ceramic blue speakers in there. Don't look like Vox alnico or Celestion alnico though.
Siaip Ciuvas Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I have 15W version and the speaker there is 8" same blue color, on the label they have put "Vox Custom Speaker" and thats it However I must say the amp sounds absolute killer and I am looking for 30W gigable version. Jeez, 75$ for this - go get it! edited to add: its valve preamp / solid state power amp. My friend, a true guitar virtuso, has used 15W version via Marshall cab on his latest album - it sounds absolute rock! according to this: http://www.voxshowroom.com/korean/amp/nu_cambridge.html the speakers are Celestion Bulldogs.
BadgerDave Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 As has been mentioned those are ceramic magnet speakers. The "holy grail" Celestion Blues are alnico so that's not what you're getting with this amp. But, for $75 it's a great deal on one of the better solid state amps available. Provided it works perfectly. If it has issues, repairs are expensive and sometimes impossible.
backinit Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 I have inquired with interest. Distance is an issue and the fact that I have made a commitment on a 300 watt bass head.
