straightblues Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 I am going to make some custom pickguards. Man all of the music companies are charging an arm and a leg for a little piece of pickguard material. There has got to be a place to buy it cheaper!!! Where do you buy it?
straightblues Posted July 10, 2005 Author Posted July 10, 2005 That is what I am talking about. A 10" by 16" piece of Tortoise colored plastic is $44. There has got to be a much cheaper sorce somewhere.
Guest hectorp2 Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Chandler...and they have the templates for most Hamers too. However, they are probably pricey.
Jack C Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 I don't know if he sells the material or just finished pickguards, but this guy was really reasonable when he did a custom guard for me: pickguardian.com
HAMERMAN Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 I think they ask too much for it also. You know it must be cheap in large quantities or else they would have come up with something different to use by now. Prices for raw material seem to be about double what makes sense.IMHO Tolex seems to be priced the same way too. Unfortunately they both seem to fall into the "they charge that much because they can" category.
