sonicblue1960 Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Hey guys- Rick Benegbi in St Pete, Florida here here. ValveTech Amplifiers is announcing a new amp, the Original 50. For those of you not familiar with ValveTech amps, here's a bit of info- Imagine a 50 watt Plexi, JTM 45, and JCM 800 with a little Vox AC30 thrown in, and that only begins to describe the tones these amps produce. Pt to pt, hand wired, overbuilt transformers, Aluminum Chasis, and tons of options, lifetime warranty, AND, starting under a grand!! What???? Thats insane!!! Anyone interested in hearing and possibly buying a ValveTech 50,30, or 25 watt amp is invited to the 5th annual Tampabay ToneFest in August and to come visit my studio here in St Pete anytime. I have bought ALL of his models for my studio, loved them more than any amp I've ever owned, and I naturally asked if I could be his Florida rep. I challenge anybody to bring their best sounding amp, Matchless,Bruno, Roccaforte,Fuchs, Savage, Komet, Trainwreck, or Vintage amp, WHATEVER, and do a side by side comparison, and if the ValveTech doesn't blow it away, I'll treat you dinner and drinks, on me!! The owner of ValveTech, Rob Pierce, will be our guest, and everyone will have the opportunity of buying amps at special ToneFest prices. ToneFest is an amp geeks dream, with over 200 of the best amps in the world including ALL the BooTeek builders plus all the Classics.Nick Champlin has done a great job with this event, the 5th year in a row. Last year we had over a dozen Plexis, Trainwrecks galore, Hi Watts, plus AC30s , Tweed Bassmans, and soooo many handwired custom made amps, and this year I'm happy to be bringing Valvetech amps to the show to blow some peoples minds. High quality Custom made amps don't have to cost $1700 plus!! I will extend this special offer to any HFC members and even if you can't make it to my studio or the show, you can still get the deal through August. Feel free to call me anytime or drop me an email, I would love to talk tone and give you more info about ToneFest and ValveTech amps. Thanks, and clips coming soon! Rick, that sounds like fun. I'll be in the Tampa area for the week of the 29th. I'll actually be on Anna Marie island most of the time, but I'd love to come into town and jam. I've got to get to Tampa anyway, so I can have some pizza at my cousin's restaurant - Cappy's Pizza.
DaxT1138 Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 this may be a stupid question, but why the 4 inputs? can you jump them like on an old marshall? AC on and DC on are just Power and Standby right? what's ground? sorry i'm a moron
sonicblue1960 Posted July 14, 2005 Author Posted July 14, 2005 this may be a stupid question, but why the 4 inputs? can you jump them like on an old marshall? AC on and DC on are just Power and Standby right? what's ground? sorry i'm a moron The 4 inputs are similar to an old Marshall, but with a twist- Hi and Lo on each channel, but Channel one is the Clean sparkly channel, and when you turn Vol 2 all the way counterclockwise, it clicks and turns on a bright switch on Ch 1. Very glassy Vox/Hiwatt tone and can get crunchy when you crank it up. Now channel 2 is the gain channel capable of JTM/Plexi voicings and has a foot switchable boost that is controlled by how you set the Vol on Ch1.Lots of possibilities from clean boost to mega gain. The boost gives you great JCM800 to Modern Hi Gain tones. You can jump both channels and combine them like an old Marshall(wow, really nails the BEST Plexi tone!!), but that does not allow you to use the boost switch of Ch2. By the way, the Master Volume is the best I've ever heard, usable all the way down to bedroom levels without sounding anemic or thin. Another cool option is the dual rectifier switch which allows you to toggle between tube and SS rectifiers, really sweet. Feel free to call me directly, this is by far the best sounding amp I've ever owned, regardless of price. rbenegbi@tampabay.rr.com or 727.343.8487 at my studio
sonicblue1960 Posted July 14, 2005 Author Posted July 14, 2005 Kurt, Rob is designing a 100 watter for me as we speak. The 50 watter is UNBELIEVABLE, tons of headroom, very loud if necessary, due to the fact that these transformers are HUGE compared to any of the other amps in the same power range. They look like 100 watt trannys. The 100 watter will not have the dual SS/Tube rectifier option, only SS. We are working out getting the right transformers made, this amp is gonna be a high voltage HiWatt/Plexi killer!!
