mirrorimij Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I've played a few of these and they are nice.http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-U-S-A-Tom-Holmes...%3A1%7C294%3A50The shape of the THC truss rod cover is similar to what I've seen on recent Hamer Vectors.edited to add- no affiliation and I don't think these were actually built at Hamer. Maybe Serial can chime in.
cmatthes Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 That wasn't built "at the Hamer shop". Tom did some Sunburst bodies & necks for Hamer as a subcontractor/supplier back in the late '70s.These guitars turn up on eBay every now and then. I don't doubt that they are nice guitars, but they won't be as collectible or valuable as a similar period Sunburst in my opinion. The guitars that show up are either leftovers or rejects from the Hamer runs or else are things Tom cut using the jigs and wood in his basement. I've seen some that have the same 3 in line w/toggle control layout, as well as a few with the Hamer headstock and two with Sustainblock bridges.
serial Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Tom didn't build "in the Hamer shop". He was several states away.
