harry65 Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 been drifting more and more back to my jazzier beginnings , guess i'm gettin old,lol , here's what i need to do , i have a killer 93 studio that is very very light for trade or sale to achieve my goal , nicest guitar i've ever owned bar none , always said i would never let it go but i think for a newport would be acceptable , on my cheap fishing scale it says 7 pounds 3 ounces !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! could be slightly more or even less, it really is featherweight , cherry sunburst or whatever hamer calls that finish , ohsc , replaced the 59 in neck with a duncan jazz(slightly more highs than a 59er), put some different knobs on and some rewiring(disconnected one volume knob) but originals will be included , it plays like a dream, absolutely sustains for days and i already miss it but i really wanna move in a new direction in my playing and i think the newport will be a great tool to get there , if ya wanna trade i have money to add , i would prefer to trade but don't wanna sell til i have a newport lined up, no bigsby's or p90's please , just lookin for a larry carlton/robben ford machine , i'll have pics up later this morning , be cool guys..................
harry65 Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii281/hcarson65/ .....................here ya go guys .................... That's the spirit! lol, gotta do it bro.................................
harry65 Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 as you can see it's really clean , has a small ding on the top near the bridge but in generally great shape, frets are great, action is nice and low with no buzz , only flaw is the rear buckle on the case but there's 4 others and it works fine.........................
harry65 Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 .......................here it is in action at the 4:10 mark , the thing plays itself..................................
Brooks Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 shred!!! nice playing, bro. don't rule out a duotone. the spruce top & wood bridge give nice round jazz tones. i got rid of my newport because it sounded too similar to my duotone (spruce/phatcats), and i didn't like the body size/bigsby. plus my DT played better (and changing pups is a bitch on the newport).

harry65 Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 bump for semi hollow goodness...................
GaryT Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Tell you I A/Bd my Newport and Korina Artist today. Both are exceptional piece's. And while I would take nothing from the Artist. I'd insist if you want that 336 Tone? You better off with a Maple Top Newport Pro. Its a true Hollowbody, while the Artist isn't actually a even a Semi. And when you play them next to each other its apparent.
