Steve Haynie Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Does anyone have a single 6L6GC for sale cheap? An amp was shipped to me and arrived with a broken tube. I do not want to buy a new pair. I just need something to fill the socket without having to borrow from another amp.
edgar_allan_poe Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 That won't work unless it is a cathode biased amp. The different tube will almost certainly bias differently.
Steve Haynie Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 What I have is a Peavey Mace head. It takes six tubes. What is in their right now is already three different types of tubes. If it were a keeper I would go ahead and retube it right, but I would rather pass it on with full disclosure of what is wrong with it. I have read about the possiblity of taking out a couple of tubes to cut the power output. I would rather have an amp that can be cranked for a potential buyer.

Steve Haynie Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 I have nothing to trade and do not need a vintage tube for this particular amp. While it is not really a "beater" to be abused it is not close to pristine nor valuable.
