BTMN Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Couple of quickie shots with a borrowed Sony. Wanted to get a group shot of them for this post. Dont much care for the focus on it but the shots are fun to look at anyway. The Explorer/Daytona in the bottom row of this next one is a project I wanna get done in the near future. It is a late '70's-early '80's Mighty Mite Flametop Maple 1 piece Mahogany body and a '93 Daytona neck I wanna put it together with. More on that another time, but I thought I might tease ya. Thinking about calling it a Mighty Daytona with a touch of respect to Badger Dave and his cool ass Seafoam Green Calibird.
cmatthes Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Gene:I'm digging the Extona, or Daytonard, whatever you end up naming 'er. Is that one getting a Sustainblock?Any finish ideas?
BTMN Posted August 17, 2005 Author Posted August 17, 2005 I've had this great Flame Maple topped 1 piece Mahogany Mighty Mite Body from the late '70's/early '80s for a couple years and finally happened upon a '93 Hamer Daytona neck I'm going to try to mate up with it. Any advice on lining up the neck for proper Intonation is appreciated but I might leave that for better men than me. Looks like the body was a Cherry Sunburst at one time but I'm getting new cream binding done and a slight Amber toned Clear put on it. Gonna put Black hardware and Black pickups with Black rings on it too. HMMMM Sustainblock huh?
sw686blue Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Gene,That's an awesome collection. Concerning the joining of the MM body with the Hamer neck, it is not so simple. The neck frets are slotted for a 25.5" scale and the body was probably routed for 24.75". You'll have to either re-route the body so that it becomes 25.5" scale or you'll have to redo the neck. Either will be pretty involved.Nick
BTMN Posted August 17, 2005 Author Posted August 17, 2005 According to Michael Charvel at Wayne Guitars all the Mighty Mite stuff was 25.5" scale.
RacerX Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Damnit Gene, I just hate to see you leave perfectly good guitars lying in the yard. I have room inside at my house for the second one in from the left. Nice spread there... Mark.
