Pieman Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 This relates to a Gibson LP Deluxe. The plate (about 1/2 inch by 3") into which the pick up height adjustment screws are screwed has a stripped hole. Any ideas on where to buy these? Maybe I just call StewMac?
veatch Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 If it were me, i'd try Lollar guitars. Not sure if he sells them without the pups, but he's worth a try. And Jason's good people... I'm sure Greg or Roy could hook you up as well.
Pieman Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 In searching the web I have learned:"a flat metal plate was mounted in the bottom of the pickup cavity, with threaded holes for the screws that passed through the pup's plastic collar, a spacer, and the UNTHREADED "ears" on the pickup's baseplate.......If you have the metal mounting plates at the bottom of your pup routes, it should be an easy swap. If NOT, they are pretty hard to find, and there's no other easy way to do this, AFAIK, other than fabricating your own (not that tough if you're any good at that kind of stuff)."I have written AllParts and a couple others to see what they have to say. StewMac didn't have anything. If nothing else, I will find a larger diameter screw and tab the threads myself.
tomteriffic Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 When I set up a P-90 Special for minibucker/firebirds, Greg put some mahogany shims in the bottom of the pickup routes to give the screws something to work on. They're thin enough that I could put P-90's right back in there with no problem, but they provide the resistance for the needed adjustment. I don't remember the exact details but it seemed simple enough. Check with him on the particulars.
