G&L Legacy and humbuckers

Does G&L route the USA Legacy models to accept standard humbucker-sized pickups as drop-ins, or is it single coil only without routing/modifyng? If so would it be HH, or HSS only?

Also, what is the wood type used in the Legacy, or do they use different kinds? I'm assuming its probably alder.

Some Legacy guitars have a bathtub route and some are routed for single coils. Push down on the pickguard in the middle and you'll know what you have. The one G&L I intend to keep is a Legacy HB with a humbucker at the bridge. Great guitar.

Back when I bought mine in the mid-'90s, they used the bathtub route so it could also accept any type of pickup without routing--SC, humbuckers, Z-coils...

G&L uses alder for Standard finishes and ash for Premier clear finishes as delineated here.

It's got the bathtub cutout, so I'm good to go. I pulled the pickguard once I got the guitar back in-hand, and in the meantime G&L called me back....the guy said he thought they went to the bathtub route about the time Leo sold the company.
