passive versus active volume pedal

I was thinking of getting an Ernie Ball volume pedal ( 250 K potentiometer ); amongst the glowing reviews, are some that say that it causes some high end loss on your guitar signal, would this depend on where it went in your signal chain ? I would be using it primarily with a TC Electronic Nova system.

Thanks Jaberwock

I know it sounds kinda funny, anyways, I have a pedal steel volume pedal, and it's great for guitar too. No high end loss at all. Picked it up for around $150. Just a suggestion.

I use a Korg passive volume pedal, which I thought was not ideal, but then I found out that Kull uses the same one, so I guess it's legit. It seems very transparent to me, they're pretty affordable too I think.

I assuming the value of the potentiometer would have an effect on the high end signal loss in a passive volume pedal, so would a 250 k pot be better for single coil pickups ?

Thanks for your replies Jaberwock

Use the 250k version if you're plugging your guitar straight into it, or if it's usually going to be seeing the signal that's coming straight out of your guitar (i.e. all pedals in front of it are true bypass and will normally be turned off). Use the 25k version if it's normally going to be following any buffered or normally-on pedal.
