hectorp Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I acquired a a Phantom Guitarworks Teardrop and I'd like to create something like the Disraeli Gears cover on it by hand. What sort of paint should I use?
Punkavenger Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Are you going to spray or brush it? The most professional way would be to air brush it with lacquer... but you have to determine what the guitar is painted with originally. Lacquer will lift some finishes. You could also airbrush it with automotive paint ... that stuff can be expensive however. You could brush it or spray it with sign painters enamel but that might muffle the tone a bit. A lot of those old psychedelic paint jobs were crudely done with shitty paint however so ... who's to say? I guess it just depends on what you want.Make sure you sand it lightly first to give the top coat better adhesion

Punkavenger Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I used to walk to the library to check this record out when I was a little kid in the late sixties ...
